Because the real alt season always starts with true innovation.
The alt season of 2017 began with the ICO of The DAO in 2016, the first borderless decentralized DAO ICO.
The alt season of 20/21 began with the defi summer of 19, which started with Aave and Uniswap launched in 17/18. They were the first to implement user-friendly lending (leverage) and trading on-chain.
I don't know when this alt season will start, but I believe that an epoch-making alt season requires epoch-making innovations to kick off.
