On June 5, according to Cointelegraph, Ukrainian police recently arrested a 35-year-old man on charges of carrying out large-scale cryptojacking activities. According to the police statement, the man hacked into more than 5,000 customer accounts of an international escrow company since 2018 and used its server resources for cryptocurrency mining without authorization, causing the company to lose about $4.4 million. Police searched the suspect's home and found multiple computer devices, mobile phones, bank cards, as well as crypto wallets and hacking software. The suspect currently faces charges of unauthorized interference with the operation of electronic information networks, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Investigation into the case is ongoing.
