Concordium launches a mobile age verification application based on ZK proofs to comply with new regulations in the UK
According to reports, the Blockchain protocol Concordium has released a mobile age verification application based on zk-SNARKs, supporting both iOS and Android systems. After users pay 0.01 USD to create an encrypted digital identity, they can prove attributes such as age (like nationality and date of birth) to third-party services, while the actual information will not be disclosed to the service provider.
The app goes live just as the UK implements new regulations for age verification for adult content access on August 1, sparking privacy protection controversies. The UK communications regulator (Ofcom) guidelines allow the use of reusable digital identity wallet solutions that meet data protection standards, and Concordium stated that it is in talks with Ofcom regarding compliance.
A certain tech giant's electronic wallet has integrated zk-SNARKs technology for age verification in April, indicating that this technology is gradually penetrating non-cryptographic scenarios.
